The Fuggerei in Augsburg has been providing social housing for citizens in need for over half a millennium. It is a private foundation that has been managed by members of the Fugger family on a voluntary basis since it was established by Jakob Fugger. To mark the 500th anniversary of the Fuggerei in 2021, Fugger Family Senior Council explained how the Fuggerei's recipe for success can contribute to solving social challenges around the world. The motto "Fuggerei NEXT500” therefore sets out the core concepts for the future which can be applied on a global scale. The aim: Both the founders and institutions and organisations worldwide will be able to combine their social commitment with the core concepts of the Fuggerei and implement them as individual "Fuggereis of the future". "Fuggerei NEXT500" launched its mission as a global inspiration for the first time in this jubilee year.
