There have already been some attempts to replicate the Fuggerei example. Mostly, however, only specific aspects are implemented, so that a housing foundation with a comparable overall effect has not been successful anywhere.
The Fuggerei code now offers a type of instruction for additional Fuggereis and simultaneously starting points for their architecture. For specific structural elements of the Fuggerei have proven to offer timeless support for both the successful individual and communal life in the settlement.
A team from the internationally renowned architects MVRDV has therefore analysed the structures of the Fuggerei and developed a modern, module building kit from it. It is based on the code and on the architecture of the Fuggerei and on the seven social challenges.
Benefit: The modules can be executed and combined quickly and individually depending on the location and focal point – but a Fuggerei is always created from them.
