The series of sermons started on 29 August 2021 in St. Moritz as part of the week of celebration with a commemorative service on the theme of developing spirituality.
The sermon examined belief and faith between private individualism and community action. Bishop Dr. Bertram Meier also traced the long Christian tradition of charitable endowments as an expression of responsibility towards God and one’s fellow citizens.

Bishop Dr. Bertram Meier, Professor Dietmar Schiersner and Theresia Gräfin Fugger von Glött then discussed the sermon in the Leonhardskapelle chapel in the Fuggerei. Developing spirituality can have a religious background, but it is not an essential prerequisite. Spirituality arises not least through a reflection on questions of meaning and values. Reflection, also prayer in a religious context, has both a positive inner effect and an effect on the relationship with our fellow human beings in a personal environment.
