The »Fuggerei NEXT500 Pavilion« was specially planned by the internationally renowned architects MVRDV for the 500-year jubilee and erected by Züblin Timber. The bold reference to the typical Fuggerei architecture largely comprises timber from the foundation’s own forests. Reconstruction after the jubilee was already considered with regard to the design and material. The structure therefore underlines the principle of sustainability as it applies in general to the concept of the foundations – and of course specifically to the Fuggerei, which has been financed for centuries by forestry income.

Area: approx. 170 m²
Material: Around 130 m³ laminated timber was used. Approx. 242 eighty-year-old spruces were needed for this. A large part of the timber used came from Fugger foundation forests. With the foundation forest's total productive area of 3200 ha, the timber for the pavilion will grow back in 3.02 days.
Structural features: The 8-metre-wide protruding part of the pavilion is suspended about 3 metres above the ground. Around 3,000 wooden and steel connections in the wall, ceiling and floor elements ensure the secure anchoring.
